What is RSAT – Remote Server Administration Tool?
Remote Server Administration Tool Or fondly known as RSAT is a tool that lets windows server administrators manage Windows server roles and features from a Windows Desktop Operating System like Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Operating System requirements for RSAT tool
You cannot install the RSAT tool on the Home and Standard Editions of Windows Client Operating Systems. You can install the RSAT – Remote Server Administration Tool only on the Professional and Enterprise editions of the Windows Client Operating Systems.
Who can install RSAT tool
The user must login as an Administrator to see and install the Optional Features in Windows.
Is the RSAT tool available by default on Windows OS
As per Microsoft, beginning with Windows 10 October 2018 Update, RSAT is now part of “Features on Demand” in Windows 10 itself. This clearly implies that RSAT tools will be easily available on Windows 10 with updates from October 2018 (and above) if you are using Professional and Enterprise editions.

How to Install RSAT – Remote Server Administration Tool
Here are the steps to be taken to install RSAT – Remote Server Administration Tool on Windows.
Go to Settings
Search for Settings in the Windows Search Box. Once the Settings option shows up, click on it.

Select Systems
Under Settings Options, click on the System option on the left hand side

Select Optional Features
Click Optional Features under the System option


Click View Features button
Under Optional Features, click on View Features button next to Add an Optional Feature title
Add an Optional Feature
Type the feature that you are looking for under the Add an Optional Feature. In our case, its RSAT
